Corporate support
There are many ways your company can make a valuable difference to the work we do and we are thankful for the support we've had from many companies through staff fundraising, Charity of the Year, sponsorship, pro bono support/gifts in kind and shares giving. In addition to this, Raleigh delivers leadership and training programmes for corporate and professional organisations.
Staff fundraising has been shown to provide a range of benefits to companies such as increased staff morale, enhanced employee motivation and employee retention. Working in partnership with Raleigh will give your employees the opportunity to mix with different groups of people right across the organisation providing excellent team building and staff development. We can include incentives for your team such as the top fundraiser being able to visit one of our overseas projects
With this in mind, we have a portfolio of fundraising activities both in the UK and overseas, from competing in the Kinabalu Adventure Challenge in Borneo to taking part in a Three Peaks Challenge, triathlons, running events, skydiving and events which are less action packed such as quiz nights, dinners and fashion shows.
Our fundraising team has over 20 years of experience of working with major corporates. We can tailor-make a fundraising programme to suit you and develop a wide spectrum of events and activities that all staff can work together on, generating team spirit and working towards a common goal.
Charity of the Year Choosing a Charity of the Year is a big commitment for a company, but a fantastic way to offer your support. By choosing us your employees will have the choice to engage in many events and activities which will have a positive impact on your company, enhancing the company image, motivating staff and providing opportunities for staff involvement in the UK and overseas. Our fundraising team is experienced in managing Charity of the Year partnerships and we have an experienced communications team to support all promotional requirements.
Gifts in kind are also invaluable to Raleigh: Capgemini provided pro bono IT consultancy to Raleigh; Shell have provided our fuel in two of our expedition countries; Regatta have provided walking boots, rucksacks and other kit for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in the UK who have gone on expedition and to young people on expedition from our host countries; Nestle have provided expedition food in Malaysia. We are always happy to receive gifts in kind in the UK and in our expedition locations.
There are a number of gifts in kind that would be of enormous benefit to Raleigh such as:
- Fuel for our vehicles in expedition countries
- Flights
- Printing and stationery
- Drinks and/or food for our fundraising events
- Prizes for competitions, events, raffles and auctions
- Pro bono consultancy and support in all areas of new media
Sponsorship opportunities are also available to companies, including opening up new countries, individual expeditions and specific environmental and community projects. We also have information materials for exhibitions and events and a range of publications with a wide audience reach. Raleigh runs a varied programme of events and these are particularly special in 2009 when Raleigh is celebrating its 25th Anniversary including a high profile event at the House of Lords.
Shares giving
Tax incentives makes shares giving one of the best ways to support a charitable organisation. For example if you give shares worth £1,000, Raleigh would benefit and you would pay £400 or £220 less in income tax that year, depending on whether you're a higher rate or basic rate tax payer. Plus capital gains tax on any increase in the value of shares will not apply. You can donate shares through Share Gift or you can obtain a stock transfer form from the registrar who acts for the company in which you have shares. You should send the completed form with your share certificate to the Fundraising team at Raleigh. Remember to keep a copy of the transfer and receipt of the gift from Raleigh to claim the tax relief. Contact your tax adviser or HM Revenue & Customs for further information.
