Over the weekend, 17 ambitious goals and 169 targets were adopted by world leaders.

By 2030 the United Nations hopes to achieve three overall objectives through the Sustainable Development Goals (better known as the Global Goals): end poverty, fight inequality and tackle climate change. Raleigh International believes that young people are the key to achieving these goals.

At 5am on Saturday morning (May 30th), Charles Sanford and his team of 13 cyclists mounted their bikes in the village of Budleigh Salterton in Devon, the birthplace of Sir Walter Raleigh. 320 kilometres later, they arrived at the great explorer’s resting place, St Margaret’s Church in Westminster.

On May 30th, Charles Sanford will cycle an epic 320km in 16 hours from the birthplace of Sir Walter Raleigh in Budleigh Salterton to his final resting place in Westminster, all in memory of his younger brother James (pictured above), who passed away three years ago.

Newham Sixth Form College needs your support to win funding to enable some of its students to take part in a Raleigh expedition. The college is looking for funding from the Aviva Community Fund to enable disadvantaged students to volunteer. Voting is open from 1st– 31st May and, at the end of the month, judges will review bids from a shortlist of the charities with the most votes.
