Allocations for the Team Leaders

Allocations are a very important moment in our Team Leaders’ journeys as they finally find out who they will be teamed with for their 10 week placement.

Together our Team Leaders, will work hand-in-hand to help deliver our impactful School WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) or Community WASH projects. As leaders of their own project groups, they will take on the challenging task of managing a diverse group of volunteers through the course of the programme, delivering the infrastructural and behavioural changes that will help isolated rural communities in Tanzania work themselves out of poverty. Without further ado, here are our Team Leaders for the Spring cycle…

Team Batini, based in the Morogoro Region are Alex, Charlotte and Agnes

Charlie 1

Team Batini will be working alongside our project partner SAWA and will build on the success of WASH activities undertaken by previous ICS teams between June and December 2014. The team will continue to promote hand washing practices, treatment and safe water storage as well as providing manpower to help dig trenches and lay pipes to improve the supply of water to the village of Batini.

Team Idifu, based in the Dodoma Region are Luke and Grace

Team Kikombo, based in the Dodoma Region are JC and Christina

Charlie 4

Teams Idifu and Kikombo will be working alongside our project partner MAMADO and will complete a period of action research on behavioural issues related to WASH to inform awareness raising activities for the different social groups in the community. The teams will work alongside a wide range of community members to promote hand-washing, safe water storage and the benefits of using a clean and functional latrine. The teams will also create and distribute resources such as leaflets and manuals in order to promote healthy hygiene practices.

Team Kizono, based in the Singida Region are Lorraine and Radhia

Teams Magaga, Solowu and Kizonzo will be working alongside our project partner SEMA and a wide range of community members to promote safe water storage, hand washing and the benefits of using a clean and functioning latrine. The groups will be helping with the infrastructure development of school sanitation blocks in local schools as well as creating and distributing resources such as leaflets, manuals and murals in order to promote healthy hygiene practices.

Team Kinnihe, based in the Katratu Region are Amy and Godlisten

Teams Endashan, Endamarick and Kinnihe will be working alongside DMDD, a local project partner we have been working with for over a year here in Tanzania.  The teams will be concentrating on community integration before launching awareness raising campaigns focussing on good sanitation practice. They will be working alongside a wide range of community members to promote hand-washing, safe water usage and the benefits of using a clean and functioning latrine. The groups will create and distribute resources such as leaflets, manuals and murals in order to promote this objective.

The teams are going out visiting the villages this weekend in preparation for the commencement of the projects just 10 days from now! Kila heri, good luck to all our Team Leaders!
