This afternoon we bid a final farewell to our UK and Tanzanian volunteers on Raleigh's ICSE 15W programme. The volunteers have departed to the UK and their hometowns in Tanzania safe in the knowledge they have made a real difference to the lives of the young entrepreneurs they have spent the last ten weeks with.
The Raleigh ICSE volunteer teams have worked incredibly hard for the last ten weeks to ensure the success of the pilot programme here in Tanzania. Their dedication and committment to achieving all the project aims will make a long-lasting on the communities.
1450 people attended community meetings
56 workshops were run by our volunteers on business development
33 young entrepreneurs completed the programme
21 entrepreneurs pitched
18 business ideas, out of which 15 will receive start up business loans
3 youth cooperatives have been set up and 14 awareness raising days were held in Lukata, Kyimo and Nkalise villages in the Southern Highlands region of Tanzania.
These are just some of the achievements of our group of volunteers who have worked tirelessly in resource-poor and often challenging environments. We want to thank them for their constant energy, enthusiasm and creativity and making this programme one to remember.
