Alpha 8 – Gravity Fed Water System at Kampung Lugu

29th June 2013

Kampung Lugu is a remote location, 1½ hours drive from the nearest town and only accessible on foot over a swing bridge and no electricity.

“We will provide villagers with a safe, sustainable, reliable, and most importantly, accessible water source”

The village itself currently depends on water from rainwater tanks that can run dry if there is not any rain for a few weeks.  Our aim is to provide the villagers with a reliable, sustainable and accessible water source.

We will be working closely with our amazing project partners –  AFC (Asian Forestry Company) who are committed to sustainable community development and conservation of the environment, in other words, ensuring that the local people of this wonderful community are afforded access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation.

We are also kindly sponsored by Coca-Cola who aim to be water neutral by 2020.  This means giving back to local communities an equivalent amount of water to that which they use in the production of their beverages.
