On Trafalgar square, it was a cold winter’s night,
Rain fell from the sky and the tourists were light.
A wet lonely Christmas tree stood in the square,
The sighs of tired Londoners blew through the air.
Then out of the storm came a beautiful sight,
Twas a group of Raleigh carollers armed with tea lights,
All kitted in green, they gathered under the tree,
To sing songs for old Nelson in the name of charity.
Many old friends came to spread festive cheer,
Including old Raleigh staff and past volunteers,
The singers were dedicated, though some were suspicious,
there was a musical elf and our own Father Christmas!
The song sheets were ready, the singers wore their best grins,
They warmed up their voices and let the carols begin!
They hit all the right notes, from the highs to the lows,
The rain cannot stop Raleigh, they put on some show.
The culmination of all these magical sounds,
Was that they raised a worthy £160 pounds.
But while the songs are done and they’ve left the stage,
You can still donate on Raleigh’s JustGiving page!
Volunteers like Goodluck Noah are who we are raising for,
He’s a Tanzanian volunteer for whom we’ve opened doors.
Building skills of the youth and granting opportunities,
To creating lasting change in our host communities.
The night was a success and Raleigh’s work is fulfilled,
We have raised money for volunteers to gain more skills,
Donate as you please and stay part of our family,
Thank you everyone and Merry Christmas from Raleigh!
