A quarter of the way into their placement, Kaudi provides our volunteers of November Charlie 4, with opportunities to witness its tradition first hand, where they experience new tradition, all the while staying focused on their objectives for this phase.

Our International Citizens Service (ICS) volunteers organise and conduct various events and activities throughout their placement in their respective communities. To come up with such events, they need to constantly engage themselves in idea sharing, discussions, and brainstorming, and to do so, they need a place where they can hold their daily meetings. November Charlie 5 are placed in the community of Kaliban, and they have now spent a week in the community. With most of the in-country volunteers coming from the urban areas, they are almost as unfamiliar with rural communities of Nepal as the UK volunteers. NC5 thus, have utilized the first week of their stay in the community in familiarising themselves to rural life style.

Raleigh International Nepal held its Returned Volunteer’s Event on 17th of February, for the International Citizens Service (ICS) volunteers of 16 X, and Raleigh Expedition venturers of 16 O cycle. During the event, the volunteers and venturers shared what they learned during their placement, what can they do for their action at home, and what kind of opportunity awaits them as Raleigh alumni. Since Raleigh ICS and Raleigh expedition are two different programmes , it was a great opportunity for them to share their stories and experiences with each other.

34 International Venturers and three Host Country Venturers arrived in Baireni on 9 February to commence their three-day Venturer Induction. The Venturers were greeted with a traditional Nepali tika welcome, when a tika is placed in the middle of the forehead and you are presented with a scarf.

After three days of induction training in Bhaktapur, November Charlie 2 headed to Khadka Gaun, a beautiful community based in Namjung of Gorkha, on the 6th of February . After only a few days in the community, the team has quickly gotten into the swing of things in the mountainous region of Gorkha, which was the epicentre of the 2015 earthquake.

The Volunteer Manager role is vital to the smooth running of any Raleigh Expedition. Our Raleigh Nepal Volunteer Managers had to get through a rigorous assessment weekend to be here. Some have quit their jobs while others have put their lives on hold - but all of them have arrived with a passion to create lasting change and a strong belief in harnessing the energy of young people to make a difference.

Not too long after our first group of volunteers, Group 1 (G1) were placed in their respective communities of Gorkha, we are now ready to deploy our second group of volunteers, Group 2 (G2), in Makwanpur. The second group are currently attending their induction training at the Agricultural Development Bank, Central Training Institute in Bhaktapur.
