Young people need to be heard to the change the world. The Raleigh International blog is a platform for young people to share their voices on issues and causes they feel passionate about. Views shared on the blog do not necessarily represent the views of Raleigh International

Fernando from the capital city of Nicaragua, Managua, began his volunteer journey in 2013 as a Raleigh International Citizen Service (ICS) Team Leader in the rural community of La Naranjita, Estelí. He returned as a Team Leader for the second time last year, focusing on community development and natural resources in the rural community of La San Marqueña Achuapa, León.

Fernando told us how Raleigh influenced his professional life and his continual dedication to volunteer for issues he cares about in the country that he loves. He gained the skills to be a leader and the experience reaffirmed to him that young people can work passionately to create a better planet.
