The Inner Wheel Club of Kota Kinabalu (IWCKK), a member of District 331 in Malaysia, have recently come to give their strong support of Raleigh International sustainable development projects with a generous donation.
Yvonne Yeo and Emmeline Tan from IWCKK, a Club under the International Inner Wheel (IIW), one of the world’s largest women’s service voluntary organizations, took time out to visit Raleigh International Borneo’s team in their Sabah headquarters to make their donation.
IWCKK are in full support of Raleigh International’s rural community projects in Sabah. Last year their funding helped to bring safe and effective sanitation to the remote village of Piasau Dimala, in the Kota Belud region. Raleigh’s young volunteers from Malaysia and around the world worked with the Piasau Dimala community to build a gravity fed water system as part of their wider water and sanitation hygiene (WASH) and community resilience programme.
Brandon Charleston, Country Director of Raleigh Borneo, said
“We are so thankful for the ongoing support from our friends at Inner Wheel. Strong
partnerships such as these enable us to continue to grow and build upon our projects across Sabah. Donations go straight into supporting our young volunteers make sustainable change with rural communities and help the management of natural resources. We ensure that all donations received are directed straight back into our projects to have the biggest impact”.
Yvonne Yeo, President of IWCKK, said
“It is a great opportunity to work together with Raleigh International to extend a helping hand to the remote villages in Sabah. By working together, we will also be able to rally youths from all over the world to promote friendship and personal service to the local communities. This will educate and encourage the youths to learn to serve the community and to love Mother Nature at the same time”.
