Weather in Nepal

15th July 2019

Coronavirus (COVID-19) information
We are aware that heavy monsoon rains are currently affecting parts of southern Nepal and are monitoring the situation. All Raleigh volunteers and staff are safe and well. We are in contact with all Expedition and ICS groups and have our safety procedures in place to move volunteers if this is deemed necessary. We are also in regular contact with other international NGOs, partner organisations and local authorities. As a precaution, we have moved one of our groups of ICS volunteers based in the Makwanpur district. The group is safe and well and are staying in a hotel while we conduct a risk assessment of their host community and project site. We are providing all necessary support to this group of volunteers and a team has travelled from our office in Kathmandu to be with them. All other ICS groups have remained in their communities and we will continue to carefully monitor all ICS groups in the Makwanpur district. Our Expedition groups located in the Gorkha district are safe and well and continuing work on their project sites. This region has been less affected by the rains and there are currently no plans to move any Expedition groups, however we will continue to monitor the situation carefully. Communications, such as mobile networks, in country have been affected by the adverse weather and resulting power outages but we are maintaining regular contact with all our volunteer groups and staff in country via our safety systems. If necessary, we will provide another update.
