Royal Raleigh Alumni in the rain forest

15th September 2012

During the Royal tour to Danum Valley in Borneo this weekend, Raleigh International staff and volunteers were very excited to be invited to meet with Their Royal Highnesses Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge and to explain the work we’ve been doing in the area. Stacey Adams, our chief executive, sent us this message from the rainforest.

“As a long-term project partner of Yayasan Sabah in Danum Valley in Borneo, we were very pleased and honoured to be invited to meet the Royal couple and to explain the work Raleigh has been doing with our volunteers over the past 10 years. Their enthusiasm for Raleigh and their interest in both our volunteers, who they talked to for quite a long time, and our project work with the scientists and conservationists was great. As alumni of Raleigh they remembered fondly the three bowls and mess tin which were on display, from their own expeditions in Chile over 10 years ago. We are very proud of our Royal alumni and pleased that they show such commitment to causes such as youth development and conservation which are so dear to our hearts. “
