Activity: Volunteer Managers Expedition Discovery Weekend

Were you a Volunteer Manager on a Raleigh Expedition? Revisit the best of your experience and help us prepare future VMs and through our intensive Assessment Weekend. This training event is full of team-building tasks and information sessions, and is a vital and established part of the Volunteer Manager recruitment process.
Through sharing your personal Raleigh experience with those looking to follow in your footsteps, you will provide information about the VM roles and opportunities.
We need your passion and enthusiasm to help guide a group of 7-12 candidates through the weekend as part of a team of three fellow volunteer facilitators.
In your role as group facilitator, you will introduce activities, encourage review, and motivate candidates during the weekend. It will be your responsibility to promote health and safety within the group, and introduce some of Raleigh’s policies and methodologies in this are – leading by example and role modelling the Volunteer Manager competencies throughout the weekend.
Throughout the weekend, you will assess the candidates in your group across the VM competencies, and provide candidates with equal opportunity to demonstrate their skills and attributes. You will gain an understanding of candidates’ interests, skills and motivations for joining a Raleigh Expedition.
To feedback to Raleigh, you will write specific, evidence-based feedback on candidates’ performance across the Volunteer Manager competencies. You will also provide recommendations for a candidate’s suitability as a Volunteer Manager overall and for specific role (or roles).
