Nature is our lifeline against the climate emergency. But the UK’s most precious habitats and native woodlands are in trouble. We need to protect them. We must rewild, reforest and restore our natural world. We must Re:Green.

Be one of 200 volunteers to take action on Re:Green in the Western Highlands of Scotland on 2 or 4 week projects to protect the Scottish rainforest and ancient woodland.

The Young & Green Fund

The Young & Green Fund is supporting up to 25 young people (18-24 years old) to join the programme. More details below.

Did you know Scotland has rainforest?!

The Scottish rainforest is rare native woodland found on the west coast of Scotland. It is a natural lifeline which locks in carbon, provides local livelihoods, and supports communities that live within and around it. But it is under threat. Only 30,000 hectares of Scottish rainforest remain, but this is threatened by overgrazing, invasive plant species, tree disease, air pollution, and climate change. Working in partnership with the Alliance for Scotland’s Rainforest, Re:Green Volunteers aged 18-24 will take action to preserve this vital landscape on Raleigh International’s first-ever UK programme. Are you worried about the climate emergency? You might feel helpless. But you do not need to. Join Re:Green and seize the moment to take action for our environment. Re:Green volunteers will support the work of the Alliance for Scotland’s Rainforest.

What are the Re:Green projects?

Become a conservationist: Play an important part in the essential work to conserve and restore the Scottish rainforest and other ancient woodland. Take part in nature conservation activities in remote locations which can include supporting the removal of invasive plant species, restoration, rewilding green spaces, tree-planting and reforestation, habitat and wildlife monitoring, as well as trail maintenance.

Become a climate campaigner: Learn about sustainability and environmental action in the UK on a crash course on climate campaigning. Throughout your time on Re:Green you will gain knowledge to conserve our natural world and develop a strong grounding in environmental action which you can take with you beyond the Re:Green programme. You can also join Raleigh International’s climate campaign Action Not Excuses.

Take the youth leadership challenge: Take on some of the UK’s most challenging but beautiful terrains on an 11-day remote trek, wild-camping in the Scottish Highlands. Venture off the beaten path with your team of fellow young volunteers and learn essential skills in leadership, teamwork, planning, problem-solving and resilience.
