Ready to apply? Here are four points to read through before you start your application…

Step 1 – Terms and conditions and code of conduct

Please read our terms and conditions and the Raleigh code of conduct. Raleigh operates a no alcohol policy on our programmes.

Step 2 – Eligibility

If you’re not from the UK, you will also need to check with the relevant embassy whether you’re eligible for a visa to enter your Expedition country.

Step 3 – Medical check

If you have a concern or question about your ability to take part in one of our programmes, have a confidential chat with the Raleigh Medical Team before you apply on raleighmedicscreening@raleighinternational.org or +44 (0) 207 183 1291.

Step 4 – Apply online and upload your CV/résumé

Complete the online form. Please tell us as much as you can about yourself, what you are currently doing and what relevant skills and experience you could bring to an Expedition. Don’t worry if you don’t know which role is right for you; just put ‘undecided’. As part of the form you will need to upload a copy of your CV / résumé. For the Communications Officer role we will also request a portfolio or examples of your work.

Step 5 – Expedition Discovery Weekend

If you pass stage one of the application process, you will then be invited to our Expedition Discovery Weekend based in East Grinstead, Sussex. If you are not based in the UK or cannot make the dates available we will arrange a Skype or telephone interview instead.

The Expedition Discovery Weekend is a fun and intensive weekend, designed to give you a taste of Expedition life – so be ready to get your hands dirty!

There is a £48 charge to help us cover our costs. The weekend is facilitated by Raleigh alumni and will give us the chance to assess you as a potential Volunteer Manager. It also gives you the opportunity to decide whether Raleigh is right for you and ask our alumni about Expedition life. These are the next two dates for 2019:

  • 30 – 31 March
  • 4 – 5 May

Within one week of the Expedition Discovery Weekend we will get in touch to let you know whether you have been successful or not.

Step 6 – Deposit

To confirm your place on Expedition, we will ask you for a £200 deposit when you receive your offer letter. This will be deducted from your fundraising target total.

Step 7 – Pre-departure preparation

With support from one of our volunteer coordinators you will get started with your fundraising, booking your flights, vaccinations and visas. You will then be invited to the Expedition Development Weekend to meet your team and start your training. For more information on this please see our training and support page.
