We welcome people from all over the world with a variety of experience onto Expedition as Volunteer Managers. There are many different volunteer roles available, click for more info:

Lead roles – take on a leadership role on our project sites.

Support roles – support the running of our programmes from our local office or field base.

Medical roles – we are looking for doctors, nurses and paramedics to help us deliver safe and impactful programmes.

Expedition Project Manager

Expedition Project Manager

Are you ready to lead and inspire our young volunteers?

  • Facilitate, lead and inspire a diverse group of international volunteers to complete impactful projects whilst developing their skills.

  • You will be based on the community, environment or adventure projects throughout the Expedition ensuring the safe and effective delivery.

  • Work in a team alongside at least one other Project Manager on your project site.

Adventure Project Manager

Adventure Project Manager

Like an adventure and want to do something impactful? Lead our adventure projects.

  • Facilitate groups of young volunteers during the adventure phase of Expedition.

  • The phase typically involves a 19-day trek designed develop the volunteers’ leadership skills, whilst also teaching them map-reading, survival and camp craft skills.

  • Great chance to see some of the most breath-taking scenery as our groups trek through areas and national parks inaccessible to tourists.

  • You will need to be Mountain Leader qualified or assessed or have extensive experience of trekking or other outdoor activities.

Spanish interpreter

  • Put your language skills to good use and play a vital role in the smooth running of our projects in Costa Rica, providing the link between volunteers, communities and project partners.

  • Dual role as a Project Manager working on our community, environment or adventure projects.

  • Conversational Spanish speaking skills and basic Spanish writing skills needed.

Like being kept busy and want to do something more rewarding and impactful? An administrator role could be for you.

  • Your time will mostly be spent at Raleigh’s fieldbase, our in-country office and you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of office operations to ensure the Expedition runs as smoothly as possible.

  • Opportunities will also be the chance to visit our project sites.

  • This role is varied and diverse, and a great opportunity to use and develop your skills in a completely new environment. You will need to be adaptable and flexible.

Communications Officer

Be the Expedition storyteller:

  • Bring the Expedition to life through your communication skills by gathering content and material for the Expedition blogs, showcasing the progress and achievements of the Expeditions.

  • If you have experience in copywriting, journalism, communications or photography skills you could be the right person to join one of our international teams.

Photographer

Photographer

Support role

Document powerful stories of change through photography and film.

  • You will work alongside the volunteer communications officer to gather visual content for our communications channels.

  • You will spend time living in rural communities, getting to know community members, volunteers and partners and work with them to tell their stories.

  • As well as being the person behind the camera, you will also identify ‘photography champions’ and build their skills and confidence so that they can document their own stories.

Logistics Coordinator

Are you looking to put your logistics skills to the test?

  • Work together to ensure the volunteer groups have everything they need to complete safe and impactful projects, from food to equipment.

  • You don’t need any previous logistics experience. You’ll need to be flexible, adaptable, have excellent organisational skills.

  • Be an integral part of the fieldbase team – the ‘operational hub’ of the Expedition.

  • You will also have the opportunity to visit the different projects.

Expedition Medic

Medical role

Doctor, nurse or paramedic? Come and join us on an Expedition!

  • Use your experience to help us deliver safe and impactful Expeditions.

  • This is an exciting chance to develop your Expedition medicine and leadership skills.

  • As an Expedition medic, your role has two elements. You will be a Project Manager on some of our most remote project sites and there is also the opportunity to take on a support role at Raleigh’s fieldbase.

  • As a fieldbase medic, you will oversee the medical care of volunteers on project sites remotely, with support from the UK head office.
