Why Raleigh Expedition is different
Raleigh has more than 36 years of experience in organising volunteer projects overseas, in over 40 countries worldwide throughout its history.
Over 50,000 people from over 100 countries have volunteered with Raleigh.
We are leaders in safety – externally accredited to British Safety Standard 8848, the Gap Year Association (USA) and Year Out Group (UK). Learn more about Raleigh’s safety systems.
We work with remote communities to protect biodiversity and reduce the impact of climate change.
We are committed to running responsibly managed volunteering projects. Find out more about how we travel responsibly.
Over 81% of our fundraising income goes directly to delivering our projects, and the rest to support the running of the charity. So your fundraising efforts will be directly supporting the delivery of Raleigh’s programmes and the change and impact they have.
The Expedition programme contributes to the Global Goals for Sustainable Development (SDGs).
Our experienced in-country management and staff teams provide 24/7 support and are backed up by our safety team in the United Kingdom.
Volunteer Managers live and work with each group of young people on Expedition and professional medic volunteers support the programme.
- We work in remote, rural locations – the marginalised ‘last mile’ of development that other charities do not reach.
