Introducing the Entrepreneur Team Leaders

In Tanzania the unemployment rate among young people (15 - 34 years old) is 21%. Raleigh Tanzania has been working alongside project partner East Africa Dairy Development (EADD) since the beginning of 2015. So far the Entrepreneur programme has helped 81 young entrepreneurs to create business plans and access finance to set up their own businesses. This will be the second time Raleigh teams are visiting these communities.

Introducing the WASH Team Leaders

In Tanzania, approximately 14 million people do not have access to safe water, over 30% of the population, and 27 million people do not have access to adequate sanitation. In October, six teams of volunteers from the UK and Tanzania will be working alongside communities to help increase knowledge and raise awareness about Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in rural areas.

This month at Raleigh head office we had a very exciting visitor; Raleigh Tanzania alumnus Kennedy Mmari! He was in the UK to attend the Youth Summit on behalf of Raleigh alumni in Tanzania and across the world.

Introducing the Fieldbase Team of 15K

Equally as colourful as our surroundings here in Morogoro are the characters who make up our core Fieldbase team. Fieldbase is what we call the operational hub of our programmes in Tanzania. It is also the headquarters for Expedition and ICS Volunteer Managers and the permanent Raleigh Tanzania team. For the Fieldbase team, this will be both their home and their office over the coming few months.

Active Tanzanian Citizens of the Future

Last weekend, 120 young Tanzanian former volunteers from Raleigh International, Restless Development and VSO gathered to share experiences and discuss the future of their world.

One of the most important elements of the International Citizen Service (ICS) is active citizenship; what our volunteers do with their skills and inspiration after their placements.
