Raleigh International launches climate internship programme for young people

Our UK Year of Service Climate Action Interns will support and extend the reach of the Action Not Excuses campaign.

At Raleigh International one of our key aims is to build a movement of young leaders to take urgent action to address the climate and biodiversity emergencies across the UK and around the world.

However, at no other moment in history have so many young people wanted to take action on the climate emergency, and yet had so many barriers to do so. One of these key barriers is the lack of opportunities for young people from diverse backgrounds to gain skills and build networks to create the changes needed to make real progress on the global climate and biodiversity emergencies.

The NCS Trust funded UK Year of Service programme will help us get another step closer to building this movement of young leaders. Starting in November, we aim to employ 15 young people on a 9-month internship placement and increase their capabilities and self-confidence to find work in climate, biodiversity and other socially beneficial sectors.

About the Raleigh International Year of Service Internship

In 2021, we piloted Re:Green – a programme designed to increase the skills, knowledge and capacity of young people directly address the climate emergency and to mobilise their generation, influence decision-makers and change behaviours which support a greener, fairer and more inclusive society.

With the help of 15 interns, in 2022, we aim to grow the programme and ensure that there are no barriers for any young person that would like to participate regardless of background or location within the UK.

UK YoS Interns will support and extend the reach of Raleigh International’s Action Not Excuses climate change campaign and Re:Green programme, which aim to build a movement of young leaders taking urgent action now to address the climate and biodiversity emergencies across the UK and around the world.
