Human Resources Manager

This is a unique opportunity to develop our HR function to provide an effective HR service for our overseas and locally employed staff. This will include devising an employee handbook for country staff and putting in systems and structures to support sustainable working practices of country staff. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing a full generalist HR service to our Head Office team (about 55 staff in total).

You will be CIPD qualified, happy to work on your own initiative and have the experience to confidently advise management and take the lead on all aspects of HR. You will need to have a passion for HR adding real value in order to play a key role in delivering the strategy of the organisation, helping to develop its culture and establishing best practice.

Trainer Facilitator – 4 days per week

Raleigh International is recruiting for a Trainer Facilitator to join the training team. The role requires delivery of UK based assessment and training events to volunteers. They will focus on delivery of residential assessment weekends for overseas volunteer managers on Raleigh’s expedition programme.

Proven experience managing outdoor / experiential education programmes and volunteer staff is key, as is sound experience of managing safety and risk in this setting. Applicants will need excellent training and facilitation skills and experience engaging diverse groups of young people. Applicants will need to have a very positive, enthusiastic and flexible attitude, and strong organisational and logistical skills.

Previous Raleigh overseas experience or equivalent at volunteer leader level would be an advantage. Ideal candidates will have further experience delivering programmes for young people with fewer opportunities, facilitating cross cultural awareness, active citizenship and personal development sessions. Regular weekend and evening working required.

Accounts Assistant – 20 hours per week, over 4/5 days

Raleigh International is looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our Finance team. Key responsibilities are: invoice processing, payment requests, expense reclaims and general administration duties.

The ideal candidate will be qualified or studying towards an accounting qualification (e.g. AAT or equivalent), well organised and able to prioritise workload to meet deadlines, with good attention to detail and team player.

Nursing Officer – 21 hours per week

Raleigh International is recruiting a Nursing Officer to ensure the health and safety of all staff and volunteers, in the UK and overseas. This position provides support to the Medical Coordination Manager, and includes assisting in the screening of medical and vaccination forms of volunteers, responding to medical and vaccination queries from volunteers, potential volunteers and their next of kin.

This is a varied and interesting role which would be ideal for any nurse who is looking to expand their practice into Travel or Expedition medicine, or gain experience working in the charity sector. Ideal candidates will be a registered general nurse with at least 3 years post registration experience, and an adaptable team player with the ability to work autonomously.

Director of Programme Funding

The Director of Programme Funding will be a member of the SMT, responsible for the generation of £1m (£500k net) income per year for the Expedition (income raised by individual volunteers (£2m pa) is overseen by the Director or Recruitment, Delivery & Communications), and working with the Director of Programmes & Policy (who oversees the large contract for delivery of the International Citizen Service programme (£5m pa) and oversees our country programming) to secure £2m funding for new projects and activities.

The fundraising team in London consists of three middle managers who are responsible for specific income streams (trusts/foundations, alumni & individuals, corporate partnerships) and three support staff. The role will operate in a matrix structure with the Head of Countries who is based in head office, and the Country Directors based in each of our field offices, who also have income targets. They will all be accountable to this role for the delivery of those income targets.

Overall responsibilities:

  • lead on identification of institutional donor calls, including prioritisation and mapping

  • develop partnerships with new institutional donors and corporate foundations

  • develop funding approaches (institutions, trusts & foundations, corporate and individual donors, including alumni) to ensure delivery of Raleigh’s Funding Strategy (income and expenditure targets)

  • develop and write effective and compelling proposals at the £500k+ value

  • work closely with Programmes team (including countries) to ensure that proposals respond to the needs of beneficiaries.
