RB and Raleigh International Nominated at 2020 Engage Awards

We are thrilled that the innovative 2019 Global Volunteer Challenge has been shortlisted, celebrating the transformation of RB’s flagship volunteering programme into a skills-based volunteering programme in Tanzania.

Connecting employees to RB’s purpose and social impact, the new Global Volunteer Challenge engaged 30 employees across 23 offices whilst addressing a development problem through the application of their own business skills and experience. Collaborating with 30 young Tanzanians, the Challenge set out to improve hygiene behaviours and prevent diseases and illnesses such as cholera and diarrhoea – co-designing a new behaviour change intervention using core RB skillsets.

The nomination recognises the hard work of the team behind the Challenge and the brilliant use of engagement techniques at every stage of the journey, creating a programme where employees felt that they had more impact than on a traditional challenge event.

“It fundamentally was a LIFE CHANGING experience for me and would stress the importance of continuing to prioritise these in the future. Skills based volunteering was fantastic…I was actually using my skills generated to drive positive change.” Louise, RB volunteer

“This kind of programmes show employees that the purpose of our company is a real thing, that we bring it to life and it’s not only the words.” Zuzanna, RB volunteer

This year’s Engage Awards saw a record number of entries showcasing excellence within customer and employee engagement in the UK. In a hotly contested category, we wish the other nominees the best of luck and look forward to the virtual awards evening on Thursday 3 December.
